Is naruto still a genin reddit. Not as analytical as shikamaru or as clever as kakashi and other jounin but he s not a hot headed fool that was mostly talk anymore. On paper yea he is a genin. People who say no hes not because he defected are wrong missing nin is only a label not a rank.

Upon his return naruto is among the strongest of his classmates but due to his extended absence is still technically ranked as a genin since he wasn t present in konoha to take the official test. Since he defected he never retook the chuunin exams and no canon source ever states him ranking up. Sasuke is not a jounin or chuunin either but rather since he left the village he is a nukenin.

He is a missing nin genin. He is the hokage which is a rank in the ninja world. This becomes a running joke throughout the second half of naruto.

While the chunnin exams were interrupted during the attack on the village other characters were still promoted including neji who lost to naruto and shikamaru who quit in the middle of a match. His teamwork and strategic thinking since part one has taken a leap forward. Naruto is not a genin.

I still don t understand how naruto was never promoted to chunnin or jonin especially through his contributions. He became hokage as a genin. So no he s not technically a genin.
